My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Blazie (AKA Blaze) and I`ve had quite the adventure before coming to MaxFund. During my kittenhood in 2023, I frequented the backyard of a nice couple living in Sunnyside. They caught me as part of a local TNR project and found placement for me in another Denver shelter. The day of my intake, I managed to bust through a window screen on the 2nd floor of their house...and made myself super comfortable in their backyard once more! While I loved all the belly pets and head scritches and ALL THE TREATS, I got smart to their cat traps and it took another 8mo of `convincing` (I call it `getting to know each other`!) for them to easily pick me up and bring me into their home in July 2024.

Even the first time I was caught, I knew I loved people; it took me a few weeks to understand `indoor cat` speak. It was particularly helpful for me that there were already four resident cats in the house I could learn from. I`m pretty sure that I would love to be in the company of another cat similar in age to myself, someone who is chill and laid back, but loves an energizing game of tag! I love following my former foster parents around the house during their routines. What can I say... Like Ariel, `I want to be where the people are.` I`m not completely fluent in `indoor cat` just yet, but I`m a fast learner who will thrive in an environment where I can get a lot of attention and patience. Sometimes, I may gently nibble on your hand if I want more pets and attention. Head scritches in certain spots cause me to get a bit sleepy and slightly drooly; it`s a new kind of happy place that I recently learned about myself! I will never say no to a sunny windowsill where I can `ekekekekekeke` at all the birds.

Did I mention I love people? The very first time I was allowed full access to my foster parents` house, I slept in their bed in between both of them...and proceeded to do so every night until there was space for me here at MaxFund. Don`t you need a bit of additional cozy warmth in bed? I know I do. We are on the brink of cuffing season, but I`m keen on finding someone for all seasons to come. Let me know if that person is you!

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
