My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apollo (A125430) 12-year-old male Red Ear Slider Turtle that weighed about 2lbs on intake!

09/10/24 12:30 Apollo and Athena are back at the shelter due to no fault of their own and are now searching for their forever home! These red ear slider turtles are not bonded and would do best adopted separately as they are quite large and will require a big enclosure with strong filtration. Red ear slider turtles are generally solitary reptiles that are best kept by themselves. Please do your research on turtles prior to considering adopting. They are quite large adult turtles and will require a large enclosure and appropriate lights, heaters, cage accessories etc. Although turtles are a lot of work, they are quite interactive with their caregivers and very fun to watch.

11/14/21 11/14/21 Athena and Apollo were surrendered to the shelter because their previous owner could not care for them any longer. These red eared sliders have been together their whole 10 years of life and would love to find a home together. Red eared sliders can live up to 20 years in captivity and require a lot of room. These two have lived quite happily in a pre-formed pond insert previously and would require a 100-gallon tank otherwise. They will also require a good filtration system, heat lamp, basking area out of the water, and appropriate aquatic turtle food. Athena has been quite shy while at the shelter, while Apollo has been rather fiesty and active. If you are interested in adopting these amazing reptiles, we recommend doing your research and giving the shelter a call!September 16, 2024, 10:47 pm
