Vanessa It's so lovely to meet you, although, at this stage of my life, I prefer to approach people rather than their approaching me. I recently became the mother of four kittens while in a foster home. Having been a stray cat all my life (I'm 3-years-old), this whole new experience has been daunting. My foster mom has given me all the time and space that I need to become accustomed to living with people. For example, I detest those cat carrier things, so I need lots more time to get comfortable entering one. Now that I'm back at the shelter, I want to present you with the information my foster mom gleaned from our time together. "She's doing great! We've made so much progress. Vanessa's still super skittish, but when I sit in my recliner-type TV-watching chair, she jumps up on the ottoman before me and asks to be petted. She still doesn't let me pet her when she's free-roaming. Vanessa loves to sit in the cat tree or on the back of the couch, but she bolts if I approach her to pet her. I am confident that it will just be a matter of time for her to get used to whoever adopts her. They'll want to get "Da Bird" toy and play with her consistently so she will warm up to them. I don't think she is the cat for young kids-too nervous. Her litterbox skills are flawless." So there you have it. If you are willing to give me plenty of time to settle in and get used to you, I would be a mighty pretty addition to your home. I need someone who understands my past and is patient with me as I adjust to my new life. 10-6-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
