My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Courtesy Post** Winston is absolutely precious, but he really needs someone with Jack Russell Terrier experience and someone who will be patient and work with him on socialization. He is a "velcro dog" - loves his people once he gets to know them, but leery of strangers. Winston is a darling 22 pound, five and a half year old Jack Russell Terrier. He had one owner for the first five years of his life, but his beloved dad sadly passed away. He is so true to the JRT breed! Winston is sporty, tough, tenacious, loyal, affectionate, athletic, playful, loving, silly, and snuggly. Common in JRTs, he has a bit of "little man" syndrome when meeting new dogs and people -- he needs them to know that he is small but mighty! Winston is not aggressive but he is an alpha dog, so his ideal home would have no other dogs and kids over 12. He absolutely loves attention so he will want to be in your lap first! His favorite thing in the whole world is playing fetch with a tennis ball! Like most JRTs, Winston has loads of energy and wants to run and play a lot!! He will let you know when he's ready to settle down by playing "keep away" with the ball - that's your cue to get ready for the best cuddles of your life. Want someone who will curl up close for a movie on the couch, or sleep snuggled at your side under the covers? This is your guy. He just needs plenty of playtime, as well. Winston is fine with kids but would prefer older kiddos who will play fetch with him, take him for walks, and who can engage with him on basic obedience (sit, stay, heel, etc.) - he is smart and will do well in a home that will stimulate his mind and body. Winston will need a fenced yard so that he can spend some time outside running and playing. If you know this breed, then you know exactly who Winston is! Anyone who loves tenacious and sweet little terriers will fall right in love with this cutie. We promise he will be the star of the show! Winston needs time to warm up to people - he will require patience when first acclimating to a new environment. He's been through a lot in his short life, and he was not properly socialized as a puppy so he is leery of strangers. Once he gets to know you, he is a friend for life. Winston absolutely adores his people and there is space in his life for more of them!! Please contact ksk9foster@gmail.com for more information about Winston. His adopter must go to the Wichita, Kansas area to adopt him.
