My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mooski
Talk about a scary incident! On June 7th, I was hit by a car and suffered severe injuries to my left front and back legs. I was taken to surgery to repair my broken rear leg and happy to report that I get to keep my front leg. Whew! Was that ever a traumatizing event? I have been well taken care of by the HSHC staff and given medicine to control my pain in recovery. Right now, I live in a roaming room, which provides me with plenty of room to walk as best I can. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I am FIV+. But that's the least of my worries. Just keep me indoor, give me healthy food and regular vet appointments and I'm good to go! FIV is a virus that affects cats ONLY! The interviewer lady (IL) stopped by to do my interview, and I immediately left my bed and made my way to her for pets. I stayed close to her side so she could easily stroke my head and neck. I couldn't help chirping and purring with pleasure. I am a 3-year-old male tabby, weigh 8.4 pounds, and am now neutered. I have a handsome buff-colored coat and golden eyes. The IL called me a brave little hero with a delightful personality. Would you like to become my parents? 10-7-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
