My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What has two "thumbs" and is ready for a new forever home? This girl! Meet Birdie! Birdie is a sweet, talkative polydactyl girl who greets you as soon as you walk in the room with friendly chirps and trills. Birdie was a basement dweller before coming to TCR and was covered in scabs from flea bites. She is now a beautiful medium haired girl with the silkiest fur and has ear plumage that would make a peacock jealous. Not to mention whiskers for days.

She would love nothing more than to tell you all about her day while you give her lots of pets. Birdie loves to play with her toys, especially her kicker toy and using her scratcher. She recently has taken up a new hobby. Can you guess what it is? Bird watching! She enjoys sitting on the windowsill watching the world go by, listening to the birds and bugs. But, if she must settle for bird TV on YouTube, she is okay with that too.

When she is done bird watching or wrangling her little fledglings, Birdie loves to lounge on a comfy couch, blanket or cat bed. Sometimes, if she is really comfortable, you will find her sprawled out on the floor like a tube sock that fell out of the laundry basket. If you're lucky you may even catch her with the tiniest of "mlems."

She did a great job at raising her two babies, but now she is ready to fly the coop and be on her own where she can get all the pets to herself. Birdie is a little timid with loud noises and new rooms but acclimated to her foster room quickly and now rules the roost. She has only met a dog and another cat through a gate between her and her foster room. She seems wary of them, but with enough time and patience (and proper introductions!), Birdie may welcome fellow house mates to her flock. She would likely do well with adults or respectful kiddos of any age in her new home.

Birdie is estimated to be about a year old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. She will need an adopter who can keep up with regular nail trims due to her extra talons (but we can show you how!). Please apply today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
