My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Velma is such a sweet girl. She is estimated to be 8yo and while she could be called a senior dog, she does not act like it. Her temperament is very chill. She does like to lounge around and take some good naps during the day, but she loves to go on walks and play.

She is in a foster home and has been in homes with lots of dogs and while she doesn't necessarily play with them in the home, she likes to play chase and play with a soccer ball in the backyard.

She loves all people and all dogs. She loves to give kisses and come close to humans for love and pats. She likes to try to sneak onto a couch or a bed, but isn't able to on her own, so she snuggles into her bed or crate instead. We are unsure how she does with cats, but likes kiddos. She is fully potty-trained. She would love to be in a home with another doggo or humans that will give her lots of love and good activity.

We would love for her to go to a home that will continue working to help her achieve a healthier weight. She has gone on shorter hikes and loves them, but needs to lose a bit more to have the stamina for longer hikes. We are confident she can get there.

She was not crate trained prior to come to us, so it is something we are actively working on. She will sleep in her crate overnight and likes to eat and enjoy bones/kong treats in her crate. She is okay with crate time for rest or decompression time, but is not a fan of the crate when she knows her people are not around and is alone. She has been great outside of her crate and usually just lounges, but knows that it is her safe place, and we would love for her to go to a home that will continue to implement the crate.

She will receive two free training sessions with adoption!
Please reach out if you have any questions and apply if you think she would make a great addition to your family.

More about this rescue

“A Dog Rescue Doing More than Dog Rescue”
We are a young rescue (3rd year anniversary in Jan 2023), but we are here to lead the way of what rescue actually means and set the standard so others can follow.

We are doing more than just rescuing the dog.
We hold monthly group training classes for the community (yes, even those without rescue dogs).

We provide free training for our foster families.
We provide free training for our adoptive families.
We are doing more than just rescuing the dog, we are changing the pattern of surrendering by providing knowledge and education through our community.
It seems like a simple thought of course, but one that many rescue groups do not follow.
