Say hello to Ollie! This puppy is a 14 week old, 20 pound Shepherd/Retriever mix with lots of growing and learning left to do. If you’re looking for a new best friend, this guy is ready for you!
Ollie is a very playful pup who has loved getting to know the dogs in his foster home. He’s happy to tag along in all activities including helping his foster parents around the yard. He hasn’t shown signs of a prey drive so far and leaves neighbor chickens alone! While it would be an added bonus for Ollie to have access to a fenced yard, it is not a requirement.
As far as cats go, he hasn’t met one yet! If there’s a cat in Ollie’s forever home, a meet and greet may be necessary prior to adoption.
Ollie’s very smart and has taken well to training. He rarely has accidents in the house and improves in the potty department every day! He is not currently using a crate but he won’t mind if he’s crate trained in the future.
So far, Ollie’s been fairly independent and quiet but loves a good snuggle at the end of the day. We aren’t sure how vocal he’ll be when he grows up, so shared walls may be a gamble. Given the right fit, this may still be a possibility.
Ollie is ready to meet his forever family! With patience and consistent training, he will be sure to develop into the perfect dog anyone could ask for. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
