My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am currently at Stafford Creek Corrections Center as part of the FREEDOM TAILS Board & Train Program from August 8 - October 31. This popular program pairs a duo of incarcerated individuals up with a PAWS of Grays Harbor pooch for 12 weeks. Each dog has a primary and secondary handler assigned to the same cell, giving the dog 24-hour care and attention to meet its needs. During their stay at SCCC, these dogs receive specialized training to prepare them for adoption to the public. At the end of their 12-week stay, they enjoy a special adoption ceremony with their new families to show off their skills as they start a new journey. Find out more at pawsgh.org/freedomtails.

Hello everyone,

My name is Brody, I am a very happy pup who loves cuddling, playing fetching, hanging out and let’s not forget belly rubs. I was recently enrolled in the Freedom Tails Program at Stafford Creek Corrections Center. I will be here for the next 11 weeks. I will be learning a lot. Since I got here, I have been learning how to wait, look-focus, and with me. I have to say it is not all that bad! Whenever I do these things I get a treat, that’s what they call it, but I know it’s just dog kibble.

I have been making some new friends here and enjoy play time. We go on a lot of walks and I really love to be outside. When it’s time to chill out I have no problem laying in my crate while my trainer is on the phone. We spent a lot of time watching the Olympics and I really enjoyed most of it. I always seem to fall asleep through movies or TV though, it seems to be pretty boring.

So, if any of you would love to add to your family you can schedule a meet and greet, and we can get together. I am looking forward to it. I would like to thank PAWS for this amazing opportunity
As Always Paws Up,
Brody Boy

What’s up everyone,

It is just me checking in to give you all an update. Darn, as always trying to enjoy this experience. I am learning so much and it can be a little overwhelming. My life has sure changed and I have to say following the rules isn’t at all bad. When I do, follow the rules, I get a treat, and we all know how everyone enjoys treats. I have to say I am doing a great job with focus, look, with me, and wait. I have been hard at it since I got here. For the next two weeks, we will be working on sit, down, stand, wait. Wish me well, and I hope to be a good boy( but I make no promises).

So to everyone out there looking for a fun, loving, outgoing pup who loves to cuddle, hangout, play fetch, tug o war, and enjoys walks I am your man.

Well I hate to run but got plenty of work tools. So as always. I want to thank you

Hello everyone! It’s your pal, Brody. I hope this finds you all doing well and that you have had an amazing summer. Everything with me is going along well and I have to say that this is not at all bad. I thought coming into this situation I was going to be locked down and would have to get involved with things I want nothing to do with, but that is not the case at all!
I get to play with other dogs and get to go on walks, my trainer even takes me out for a jog every now and then. But when it’s time to train he makes sure I am focused on the task at hand.
I’ve been learning so much since I have been here. I will sit, shake, lay down, roll over, stand, come, by me, kennel/crate, paws-up, up, off, wait, stay, just to mention SOME of the things I have learned. Staying focused is something we are working on, and of course a young pup can get a little excited. I am learning not to play too rough with dogs and humans, because like I said, I can get a little excited.
I love to walk around with my handler’s sun glasses on and I can’t believe all of the attention I get when I wear them! Me, I just like to get the sun out of my eyes.
So if any of you would like to meet a young, outgoing, happy pup, you can schedule a meet and greet and I’m sure I can find the time to make it happen!
As always, PAWS up!

Additional adoption info

Spay/neuter + rabies is included in our adoption fee, but may not be completed by time of adoption due to our limited access to veterinary appointments. Microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, flea treatment and dewormer are included.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our public hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11 am - 4pm. Dog meets may be also scheduled on Sunday and Monday by appointment only. No appointment is needed to meet our cats during public hours.
Please note that appointments are highly recommended for dog meets due to limited staff availability, but we do accommodate walk-in visits whenever possible. Additionally, many of our dogs may be located off-site in foster homes and an appointment will be required to meet those pets. We do require a completed application prior to meeting pets in foster homes to preserve the valuable time of our foster families.

More about this shelter

PAWS finds new families for stray dogs and cats as well as owner surrendered pets. We also accept animals brought to us by concerned citizens and local animal control agencies and do our best to find them suitable homes. Our mission is to find homes and offer direct care for as many of these loveable pets as possible. PAWS attempts to prevent the birth of unwanted animals through education and spay/neuter programs.

PAWS of Grays Harbor is a strictly non-profit organization and we survive because of donations from our community. All of the animals we adopt out are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for fleas. Sometimes, the animals we rescue require additional veterinary care. Without your donations, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your support, we couldn’t do it without you.
