My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peach, a delightful dwarf hamster looking for a new home! With her petite This little bundle of joy is playful and curious, always ready to explore her surroundings with boundless energy. Peach started her life like most hamsters, in a pet store. Unfortunately her owners were not able to commit to the time she needed to take care of her, feeding and regularly cleaning her enclosure. Hamsters may be small but they still require care like any other pet. Peach is not well socialized and is not used to being handled. She's in search of a loving home where she can receive the attention and care she deserves. If you're ready to add a touch of sweetness and fun to your life, Peach might just be the perfect furry friend for you!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
