Gizmo is a sweet boy, he loves to cuddle, play with toys, and spend a lot of time outside. His favorite toys are squeaky toys and rope toys and when he is outside he loves to play with the water from the water hose. I have to rehome him because I am currently living with a family member and she no longer wants him in the home and is requiring me to rehome him.He knows some commands such as sit (sientese), stay or wait, down, paw, highfive, kisses (besos or basitos) He does well with children, he is very sweet with them. He seems to do well with the other dogs and cats that are in the home, but he chases cats that are outside crawling under the fence and I am unsure with how he would be with other dogs. He does well with most adults, he has gone with me to work before and did very well with everyone there. He is not food aggressive but he is used to eating in his kennel. He is kennel trained. When walking on leash he does better with a harness.

Additional adoption info
To confirm an animal's location, please call the shelter 409-833-0504 to ask if an animal is at the shelter or in foster care. We work really hard to ensure each pet goes into a home that is the best fit for them and the new family. This is why a session with a Matchmaker is required. Adoptions are on a first approved basis.

Originally formed as the Humane Educational Council of Southeast Texas in 1962, the primary focus was to educate the public on animal care and compassion. In 1981, our name changed to Humane Society of Southeast Texas (HSSET) but our goals and values remain the same. HSSET is devoted to building a better community for both pets and people through education programs and setting a new standard for companion animal care.
The HSSET is a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization run entirely on grants, donor contributions, community volunteers, and a lot of love.
Our shelter is a limited intake no-kill facility serving not only the City of Beaumont, but the entire Southeast Texas region.
