My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, I'm Nicklaus! I was found near a golf course, thus the name. FORE! The person who found me looked all over for my home, but no one knew me.

Did you know the term, FORE, is a shortened version of before or afore, which comes from a Scottish warning, meaning "look out ahead"? Well now, that makes sense! For me, FORE means I'm "looking out" for my new family. Hopefully it won't take them long to find me here!

I'm sweet, playful, and gentle, but I'm shy with new people. I wish I could talk so I could tell my human friends about everything that has happened to me. It's possible that I spent a lot of time alone, since my socialization skills are not the best.

I had to go see the good vet after I was here a few days. The girls were really nice, but I got so sleepy hanging out with them. While I was sleeping, the vet neutered me (gasp!) and then took some of my blood to test for cooties - just kidding. But seriously, they found out I have Lymes Disease and Anaplasmosis.

Now don't go crazy, they're not that bad, but I will need to be on an antibiotic for a few weeks, which the shelter will send home with me. Whether or not those things will affect me later in life is anyone's guess. I might need more antibiotics once in a while.

I think I would like to have a doggie playmate in my new home. I get along with most of the other dogs here at the shelter, and another dog would make me feel more confident. I might even tolerate a cat if it's not mean to me, but I think they're a little scary. Kids are OK, too, but just the older ones. Little ones make me nervous because you never know where they are or what they're going to do.

Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend who will bring laughter, love, and endless adventures to your life. Come on - let's go play together! FORE!
