Pokie is such a sweet pup. His big eyes make it seem like he's always concerned but he is really just very content. Pokie is kind of an old man at 9 but that's perfect for someone who wants a companion and not an exercise buddy. Pokie gets his physical activity in by following his favorite people everywhere they go. I cleaned the house one day and I bet he put 2 miles on those little legs. He's never in the way, he just wants to make sure that you aren't eating or going for a car ride without him. When not following his people around, he's lays around and will cuddle when it suits him.
Pokie is very food motivated. He's a big fan of peanut butter flavor and frosted flakes - oopsy - but I think he would literally eat any food offered to him. A slow feeder was very helpful.
Pokie doesn't play with toys and or know any commands. With some work, I bet he would learn some.
Pokie isn't aggressive in any way - definitely just a lover of both kids and adults. He LOVES riding in the car. I would suggest having a passenger to hold him or get him a car seat. He's tiny and moves around a lot and it gets pretty dangerous.
Pokie isn't totally housebroken but I think that will get better once he's neutered. We took him out frequently which is super helpful but not always possible. Pokie is fantastic in the crate and never had an accident in there.
Overall, Pokie is a low maintenance, super sweet pup who deserves a loving companion. He will certainly give that companion loads of love back.
Sweet Pokie has a medical condition affecting his liver, s because of this, Pokie's adoption fee is completely sponsored. If you are interested in learning more about Pokie, feel free to call our adoption center or stop by in-person.
