My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I'm Cosmo, an adorable beagle boy! My life hasn't always been easy... until recently, I was living in an animal testing laboratory where I was forced to endure painful experiments. Many people don't know that animal testing involves experimentation on sweet and innocent dogs like me. Now that I've been rescued by Beagle Freedom Project, I'm working on gaining confidence and learning how to trust humans. I am extremely shy because of what happened to me in a laboratory, but I soooo badly want to be loved! I'm hoping to find a special adopter that will give me all of the patience and love that I need to become the joyous beagle boy that I'm meant to be. Once I trust you, I love to stay near you at all times and lean in for head scratches. I love other dogs, so my forever home needs another confident pup that can show me the ropes! My dream is to be adopted from BFP along with my best friend, Dolan, so that we can stay together! I'm still pretty scared of new things; and most things are new to me right now, so I'll do best in a home with a yard where I can peacefully explore my surroundings and enjoy the outdoors. If you have experience with shy dogs and would like to extend your compassion to a sweet boy like me, please apply to become my pawrent! I promise to love my adopter forever and ever and be the most loyal companion!

I would prefer a home that has: shy dog experience, other dogs (or willing to adopt a second dog along with me), adults-only, a fenced yard, lots of love!

My location: LOS ANGELES, CA

*Please note that third-party sites like PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet may sometimes list multiple locations for the same animal. My correct and current location is the one listed directly above!*

Additional adoption info

ABOUT OUR ADOPTION PROCESS: Standardly, Beagle Freedom Project does not facilitate animal meet and greets. Instead, we begin all BFP adoptions with a trial-period; this is called ‘fostering-to-adopt’. At BFP, we believe that the best way for an adopter to be certain that an animal is their perfect match is by giving them an opportunity to truly know each other before finalizing an adoption. As BFP animals come from such traumatic pasts, they can often be shy upon a first meeting. Foster-to-adopt trials allow these special animals an opportunity to decompress and show their authentic personality before an official adoption decision is made.
