Meet Toby!

Toby is an adorable Baja mutt. Rescued from the streets of Ensenada Mexico late July. Sweet Toby was found on the road along with his sister. Unfortunately, both pups where found under horrible conditions. Emaciated, Dehydrated, weak and terrified. His rescuers noticed them on the side of the road, when they stopped they realized one pup was not moving or responding to them approaching them while the other was barking and whimpering at thier sight. When they reached the pups they quickly realized they needed to drive the pups to the vet immediately as the female pup was likely not going to make it. The next day the vet clinic called she had unfortunately passed away, had they been seen and helped a day or two before the girl wouldn't have been so dehydrated. Her brother did a great job protecting her and staying by her side. He responded to overnight hospitalization to hydrate and he quickly recovered in the next 48hrs.

Toby went home with his rescuers and it took a week or two for him to adjust to a home and time without his sister but we are happy to report this handsome sweet ham of a puppy has blossomed into the most loving, social puppy who is happiest when people dote on him. He is great with dogs and cats. Toby is crate trained and although he is not fully potty trained, he is doing great.

We think Toby could have some shep/lab mix in him but like all baja dogs he likely is just a supermutt. He has 'thick' paws but he is also small for those paws. We guess he will be full grown in the 40-60 pound range.

As of 8/26/24 Toby is fostered in San Diego and is finished with his medical. He is neutered, microchiped, fully vaccinated and READY to be adopted.

We don't hold adoption events but we are very flexible on scheduling meet and greets at a park close to his foster home in the 92111 area in Fashion Valley area. We requet an adoption application is submitted online at ARWOB.org and once received we will contact you to schedule a phone call to start the process. Thank you

More about this rescue

The A.R.W.O.B. group is based in San Diego, CA and operates mostly in Mexico as well as Southern California and will come to the aid of any animal in need which crosses our path. Our belief is to do what we can in order to “Make a difference in their lives.” From experience we have observed and feel the companion animals of Mexico are in the greatest need and accordingly we focus much of our efforts in Baja, Mexico. However, we certainly extend our help to our north of the border critters by accepting relinquished family pets, exiting both dogs and cats from the shelters of San Diego and of course by working in conjunction with other animal rescue groups in the community
