For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Hi! My name is Merry and I am from Minnesota.
I can't wait to meet you and show you what a good boy I am. I love people and other dogs, and long walks are my favorite. I might sometimes pull a little, but I am very responsive to verbal ques. I love snuggling and getting petted. I am working on not jumping up on adults, but so far, I haven't tried jumping on any children. I am still working on crate training, but I do enjoy being given chicken, hot dog pieces, and cheese in the crate. I only tried marking in the house once. I was told a very firm no, and I never tried again. I am not interested in playing with toys, but I love playing with other dogs. I might eventually show an interest in playing with children, but I would rather get petted by them. I am generally laid back, but I may whine or bark quietly when my humans go out. I do bark occasionally if I hear loud noises outside, and I will let you know if someone is at the door. I will stop if you distract me.
Little History about Merry: Merry was found wandering with his little friend Pippen. Their adventures led them to a casino parking lot, and they hit the jackpot and won an all expenses paid trip to one of our tribal partner rescues up north. After weeks of trying to find Merry and Pippen's owners with no luck, they arrived in rescue.
From his foster: Merry is a sweet, friendly, mostly confident dog. He loves being outside, so either several walks a day or a fenced yard would be ideal. He is great with people and dogs, but will need supervision with children under 5 years old due to his size. He walks well on leash, but he will need continued practice with loose leash walking. Merry is very responsive to high value treats and praise. He doesn't play with toys, and he doesn't seem to like most packaged dog treats. He is rather thin at 70 pounds, and we are trying to encourage him to eat more. Merry shows signs of mild separation anxiety, and will need continued slow training with the crate. He does whine and bark softly when first left alone, and he sometimes tries to jump on people when they return home. He is very trusting with most people, but he is not excited about going to the vet. Merry would love to live with another large moderate energy dog.

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
