My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Magnus is a handsome 3 year old (b. 2021) American Bulldog who is housebroken, crate trained and knows some commands.  Magnus is extremely friendly with familiar people and pets.  He enjoys playing with other dogs that he knows.  He is also leash trained, but will need to have a fenced yard so he has a place to run and play.  Magnus is looking for a human who will help him become comfortable and calm when meeting strangers and staying by himself when needed.   He is friendly with children, pets and people he is familiar with.  Magnus would probably do better with older kids (age 9+) that can understand he might need time to adjust to new situations and people.   He is hesitant around men and it takes a little while for him to feel comfortable around new people.

Although Magnus is crate trained, he does become anxious when left alone.   His new caretaker will need to patiently work with him as he transitions from puppy behaviors, learns manners and socialization skills, especially when meeting new people. Magnus would be most comfortable in a home with people that are able to handle his size and energy level (preferably a female).  He would also appreciate it if he doesn't have to be kenneled for long periods of time.  Even though Magnus is appx 75 pounds, he would love to be your lap dog!

The suggested adoption donation for Magnus is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.

Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.

Adoptions for Magnus are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.

Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.

Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.

More about this rescue

Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit organization formed in 2014 by a small group of devoted animal lovers, in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area, with many years of rescue experience wanting to make a difference in the lives of dogs. Our rescue focuses on small breed dogs, less than 35 pounds, of any age. It is all volunteer based, and all of our rescue dogs are living in the homes of our volunteers.
Our rescue is unique in that we offer supportive services, such as education and training, to owners considering relinquishing their pet in an effort to try to keep the dog in their home whenever possible. We also educate and offer placement assistance to owners attempting to rehome their pets through social media sites, which can often be risky for the pets as well as the owners.
