Oscar is a handsome, light brown tabby with warm highlights in his fur. He and his brother were well-loved in their previous home, but unfortunately they needed to return to HART in the Spring of 2022 when their former guardian could no longer care for them. His brother has found his perfect retirement home. Now Oscar is looking for his. Oscar is not a huge fan of shelter life, he has learned to go with the flow. Although he does not seek attention from those who enter his room, and tends to sit on the sidelines, hoping you will notice him, he loves people and enjoys being petted. He needs a home with experienced, cat-savvy people, and may do OK living with another laid-back cat.
Oscar is diabetic, and his condition is managed with twice-daily insulin injections and a low-carb, canned food only diet (in our shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate). We will require that his adopter have a well-established relationship with a veterinarian, because we are committed to the health and happiness of Oscar and his new guardians even after they leave our shelter. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopters training in the care of a diabetic cat, along with 1 insulin pen, appropriate syringes, and a blood-glucose testing kit. And, thanks to a very generous supporter, Oscar will be sent home with $100 worth of food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.
This great guy very much wants to meet his special someone and have a loving home of his own again. If you would like to meet Oscar, please complete an online adoption application and come visit him in Room 4.
