My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly is a doll and can’t wait to meet you TODAY at @godoggyny!

This 1 Year Old Poodle Mix who entered our care from a shelter in kentucky, she's gorgeous and loves to bond with people quickly!

She has a previous injury to one of her paws and steps on it a bit funny, for now it looks like no surgery is needed, and she wears a special stylish boot to help her walk a bit better and protect the paw.

Dolly loves going on walks, playing fetch, and snuggling on the couch. Dolly is eager to please and already knows how to sit, but she's working on better leash manners and being more comfortable when left alone. She’s house-trained and does well in her crate at night. Dolly can get startled by loud noises, such as trains, but is improving with time.

Dolly’s ideal home would have a yard or easy access to grass while she heals from her paw issues, she as eager to be outside and softer surfaces have been more helpful in the healing process. She would be a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and is ready to support her through her recovery. She’s a fantastic snuggler and is eager to find her forever family!

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
