Take the Pet Home
This helps ShepHeroes with pet care costs.
Darling Pixel attended our booth at Bark in the Park San Jose greeting our visitors, snuggling with our volunteers and playing with Sir as they overlapped in their puppy shifts and also with Chester, our newest boy.
Cute as a bug, Pixel is a soft puppy, even cuter in person than her photos. Last week her ears were up and this week they have their little top flops adding to her charm.
Pixel (aka Pixie aka Pixie Stick) has been on lots of outings prior to the Bark in the Park event by hanging out at the park, heading to the pet store and learning all about pickleball at a tournament, getting used to being outside with new people, sounds and environments. Some of her excursions have been in a puppy backpack, some carried on to blanket to watch the world go by. All of the environmental exposures by her foster family prepared her so nicely for our event at Bark in the Park. She was such a solid pup at our booth.
Pixel's slowly mastering crate training after a few nights of cries when she first arrived in her foster home and is potty trained. She's got lovely manners, knows sit, down and is working on other skills too. She isn't bothered by nail trims and grooming either. With her final DAPP shot, she's now allowed on grass for more excursions on her 4 paws. When she's not sure of something, Pixel will sit for further direction when on leash. As a treat motivated little gal, she happily complies with what's asked of her.
Pixel's favorite toy is a flirt pole with a stuffed unicorn, captured on a short video. She is very food-driven and already knows her name too. Pixie loves food and eats everything with gusto. She is such a fast eater that she has to eat from a kong topple toy to slow her down.
Pixel's happy to be out of the shelter environment and appreciates all the love. Who can resist this cutie pie?
We are so thankful to our foster team, who love to help pups like Pixel and Stella, not littermates, who ended up at the shelter at a tender age. Our Peninsula foster family was packing for a long trip out of the country. Without hesitation, they said we'll take Pixel and Stella so they don't have to stay another day in the shelter while transport is arranged in the next few days. Pixel moved to her current foster family thanks to another volunteer who made the road trip to get Pixel settled. It takes a village to help all the shepherds in need at our shelters. Stella has recently been adopted; now it's Pixel's turn.
Pixel is living with a resident shepherd and easily gets along.
Although puppies require time, energy, patience, and love to raise, shepherd puppies require an extra level of commitment to raising neutral adult dogs. We ask that adopters interested in Pixel have experience with shepherds or similar herding or working breeds and the time and resources to commit to structure, environmental exposures, and training.
As a foster-based rescue, ShepHeroes is always in need of fosters. An overwhelming number of shepherds in our local shelters need our help for a fresh start. Would you be willing to share your home and part of your summer to help shepherds find new families? You provide the love, and we'll provide everything else! Saying "yes" today truly saves a life. Complete this https://www.shepheroes.org/foster-form, and we'll be in touch ASAP! We appreciate your consideration.
