Hi! I’m Bucky,a 6-year-old girl who's the epitome of sweetness and affection. I love fetch, belly rubs, and hanging out with my family. I’ll happily start a good tug-of-war over a stick or a frolic with my dog neighbors.
When I’m relaxing inside you’ll likely find me by you on the couch or in my kennel, which I’ll also gladly hangout in as I wait for you to come home.
I love other dogs but I can take a moment to warm up. Once I do I’ll be a social butterfly. With appropriate introductions, a chill space to say hi organically, I’ll be ready to hangout with my canine friends. I just need to feel comfortable and prepared. I haven’t had any cat tests since coming to rescue, so I’m not quite sure how I’d do there and although I don’t currently live with kids, my affectionate nature suggests I could do well.
What would my perfect day include? Balls, sticks, a blanket, some time to run and play fetch, but I’m an easy-going girl happy to do much of anything. I could live without the sound of the vacuum and a nail trim, but who wouldn’t?
With 15-30 minutes of playtime in the yard I’m golden for the day, and will spend much of the rest of it sleeping or calmly chilling at home.
I have no issues with being left alone but will always happily choose to hangout with people. I’m not particularly vocal so could adjust well to an apartment without too much stimuli, and would love a fenced-in yard, but really I’m just looking for a family that wants to love me as much as I’m ready to love them!

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown.
Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
