For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Alfalfa is a big, energetic, loving guy who is looking for his forever home! Alfalfa is massive, but don't let his size intimidate you-he is such a sweetheart! Alfalfa came to the Whitman County Humane Society as a stray and we believe he is a lab/anatolian shepherd mix due to his size and patterns. He had bounced from a few homes and was eventually left to run around outside until he was picked up and turned in as a stray. Due to his past, Alfalfa struggles with some separation anxiety and is on medications to help him deal with that. Since being in shelter though, he has come a long way and we are starting to see some big leaps in his behavior and are working on weaning him off those medications! Alfalfa loves attention and would do best in a home that is very active and can take him on lots of walks, hikes and other adventures. He loves food, making training a breeze! Alfalfa knows his basic commands, though could always do well with some reinforcement. He has gotten a lot better at his leash manners and loose leash walking! While he walks well on leash after he gets his wiggles out-he may pull a bit when he starts his walks because he gets very excited! Due to his size, he would do best in a home that can handle his strength and handle him on leash. Alfalfa has been exposed to kids and has done well with them-though he is still learning his manner and does jump so would do best in a home with only older kids. He has not been around cats to our knowledge, but we would be happy to cat test him if the right home came along!
Alfalfa's adoption fee is $175. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated! Please give us a call to schedule an appointment to meet this big, loving pup or feel free to email us at staff@whitmanpets.org if you have any questions.
