Meet Merlin in Portlant, a very sweet, 7 year old red merle Miniature Australian Shepherd who loves to be with his person and will follow you everywhere.
Merlin is a bit on the bigger side weighing in at 40 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.
His perfect person would be someone that has aussie experience and that can establish being the alpha. Merlin is good with kids though older children would be best. Merlin is good with other dogs with proper introductions, but would prefer to be an only dog. He loves to play ball, but isn't ball crazy, loves belly rubs, and being brushed. He sometimes will get possessive over his bones, and will counter surf if there is something yummy up there.
He is crate trained and does ok with it, but definitely prefers to be with his humans. He can be left alone in the house, and he is fine. Needs some leash manners, but he is very food motivated and learns quickly. Merlin is easy to have around and is not high drive, unless there's a squirrel.
Merlin is being fostered in Portland, OR. Please fill out the app if you want to hit the jackpot with this beautiful boy.
There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

More about this rescue
Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.
In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 82,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.
Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.
We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
