My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Harleigh, the resilient canine warrior with a heart of gold. Despite the trials life has thrown her way, she radiates a spirit of hope and resilience, captivating everyone she meets. Harleigh's journey began at Chicago Animal Care and Control, where she was discovered in a heartbreaking state - emaciated, weak, and barely clinging to life. But Harleigh refused to surrender to despair. With a fierce determination to survive, she fought valiantly, and slowly gained the life and light back, that she had lost.

Despite the scars of her past, Harleigh's spirit remained unbroken. After finding solace in a loving home, Harleigh was returned due to no fault of her own. Once returned to BTR, she continued being her hilarious, goofy, unconditional self. Harleigh's indomitable spirit would shine through, rallying against the odds with the help of a dedicated team determined to see her thrive. Harleigh reminds us all of the beauty of resilience and the power of unconditional love. Her infectious enthusiasm for life knows no bounds, as she eagerly explores the world around her, relishing every moment of freedom and joy. Despite her troubled past, Harleigh holds no grudges. Her heart remains open, her trust unshaken, as she eagerly seeks out companionship and affection from those around her.

A staff favorite at the rescue center, Harleigh's gentle nature and unwavering optimism have won the hearts of all who know her. In the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, broken pottery is repaired with gold, transforming flaws into beautiful testaments to resilience and strength. In much the same way, Harleigh embodies the essence of kintsugi, her scars a testament to the battles she has fought and conquered. But Harleigh's journey is far from over. With a heart full of love and a spirit that knows no bounds, she yearns for a forever home where she can share her boundless affection and unwavering loyalty.

Could you be the one to open your heart and home to this extraordinary soul? If you're ready to embrace the beauty of imperfection and welcome Harleigh into your life, please consider contacting us at 847-813-5774 or via email at adopt@bordertailsrescue.org. Together, we can give Harleigh the happy ending she so rightfully deserves.
