This helps House Rabbit Network with pet care costs.
Hades is just so sweet, and it has taken him time to transition to non-barn life. We found bite wounds all over his body, and one on his head, plus large knots in his fur. While he allowed some gentle grooming (maybe there were 40-50 knots?), he was very hesitant of his foster mom giving him kisses on his head at first. He didn't come out of his pen much in the beginning and seemed conflicted about being pet.
In the last day or two something changed for him, and he seems to have suddenly relaxed a lot more. He's outside the xpen now exploring everything, chinning and running a little bit. Overall, it's not very many, but I have seen two small binkies now, and I think there are more to come. He was senstitive to the tiniest sound, which would cause him to freeze, but now he seems to note the sounds around him but they are not such a big deal.
Now that he knows and trusts his foster mom, Hades really likes being held and having the top of his head petted. He will sit there and tooth purr, close his eyes, breathing slowly, his nose barely moving. He is a fastidious groomer, and his fur is so much cleaner! He has excellent litter box habits!
In terms of food and luxuries, so far Hades is probably not a candidate for the Finer Things Club. He's been offered small samples of fruit (including banana!), dried flowers, carrot, and timothy hay cubes, and while he will eventually eat it, he's somewhat nonchalant about it all...what truly excites him is fresh hay, pellets and a nice helping of spring mix/romaine.
It seems we haven't seen full Hades yet; we can't wait to see what's next as he becomes more confident and comfortable. Stay tuned! If you’d like to be a part of this sweet boys journey, apply today!
