My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption fee sponsored by Michelle Lorenzini.
Gentle Gerald is a 3-year-old, 63 pound boy who came to the shelter when his owner was no longer to care for him.

Gentle Gerald is a sweet, loving, boy. He can be a little unsure around new friends; however, if you have some good treats for him you'll become best friends in no time!!

He loves a good scratch behind the ear and to play fetch. He does not resource guard toys and he's working on his "drop it command, but often times he wants to play so bad he will just drop it for you naturally. He's happy to play for a while, but once he's done he'll plop down on top of his toy and happily take all the pets you can give him!

He's chill and non-reactive to outside stimulus (cars, bikes, loud noises, high winds, etc.). He is dog-curious, showing a lot of interest in getting to know other dogs. He is also non-reactive to people out and about, however he does show visible signs of being uncomfortable if a stranger invades his personal space without his consent (as anyone is!)

He is an easy walk and very patient and cooperative during leashing and unleashing (especially once he gets to know you, he gets SO excited to see you). He is not much of puller during walks, only when he sees a squirrel (but they are just so irresistible). He knows how to sit and take treats gently, and is working SO hard on his other commands.

He is super treat motivated and is so eager to learn and please. Once you get him out of his shell, he shows you his true colors: happy, goofy, and loving. He has never been out of the shelter and so desperately wants a place to call home and a human to love on. All he wants is love (and treats)!!
