Meet Jack! Jack is a one-year-old happy-go-lucky boy with an amazing spirit! Jack was a family dog but was surrendered when his family no longer felt they had time for him, so Midwest BREW stepped in to help him find a loving home. Since being with Midwest BREW in his foster home, Jack has really come out of his shell and is eager to be loved. He weighs around 28 lbs. and according to the vet, he is in perfect health. Jack is up to date with all his shots and preventatives. He has a sweet, outgoing personality, LOVES watching “Beagle TV” in the front window (and alerts the house when something comes into view!) He has started to learn how to play with toys, but he doesn’t demand constant attention. Overall, he wants to be everywhere you are.
Jack is an alpha, so he will be best suited for a home where he is the only dog, or where he can be the leader. The biggest area for improvement is when it comes to meeting other dogs, especially when he’s on a leash. Jack’s over-excitement can be perceived as aggressive, but he just wants to smell. When meeting other dogs, he is very pushy, but once he gets a chance to sniff, he will relax. He gets along well with laid-back dogs and likes to play with bigger dogs, especially the game “chase!” He also loves catching the tennis ball. Recently Jack met a cat and was more intrigued than anything.
Jack is crate trained but hasn’t been crated much since he does good “most of the time.” He still has some puppy in him, so he will get into trouble from time to time. He is potty-trained but has been caught marking when another dog is around.
In these situations, he tolerates a belly band. Because of his age, though, he needs to go out often, so he’ll need plenty of “go time.”
Jack’s ideal home will be an active household with those who can spend a lot of time with him, continue to work with him on his manners, and offer him lots of love and attention.
If you feel you have the perfect home and could welcome him into your life for years, please ask about Jack! He’ll make your family grow by four feet!
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
