BITSY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Bitsy and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Oct. 6th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!
Name: Bitsy Best Guess for Breed: Lab and flat coated retriever mix
Best Guess for Age: 13 weeks SEX: Female
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 12.5lbs
Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.
This Adorable Puppy is Looking For: This sweetie is one of a litter of six (Bessie, Bing, Bitsy, Blossom, Bonnie, and Bubbles). They've loved growing up in their puppy pile but now they're ready to put on their big puppy pants and head out to their forever homes! They've talked it over and consulted with the bigger dogs, and this is what they want right now:
And then when they're a little bigger they want to explore the neighborhood - the local parks - the world! Making new pup and people pals along the way is high on their wish lists as well. Bitsy says she'd like to go to puppy school as well, so she can show you how super smart she is.
What do you say? Does Bitsy get to spend all her days with you?
What My Foster Says About Me: Bitsy is doing great! She is a typical sweet, playful, feisty puppy! She enjoys running around and entertaining herself with toys. Her favorites are plush squeaky toys - she runs, pounces on a toy, then shakes it around. She loves her big foster brother Duque and follows him around like a shadow. She’s persistent in trying to get him to play with her, even though he’s not interested. Her potty training is off to a good start - she waits until she’s out of her crate to potty and is beginning to go outside. She’s still adjusting to being on leash and so sometimes she gets scared and freezes up, but she’s been gaining confidence from going outside with Duque and following what he does. She’s a smart puppy and already figured out what the kitchen is. When I go in she waits at the threshold and watches me, then gets excited if I start preparing her food! She had a couple lonely nights crying in her crate at first (probably missing her sisters). Then, I got a Snuggle Puppy and now she cuddles right up to it and falls asleep. She is friendly to all, and some kids in my neighborhood loved playing with her the other day! She is cuddly and likes to get my pets and attention. Bitsy is an awesome little pup!
Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.
Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than January 1, 2025. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
