MCGRUFF NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: McGruff       Best Guess for Breed:  Lab, retriever-type mix

Best Guess for Age:  8 months as of late September 2024        SEX:  Female

Approximate Weight:  28 lbs as of 8/22/23; she is still growing

Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home

McGruff is Looking For:  A name change - she wants to be a well-loved family dog taking bites out of treats, not some animated character taking bites out of crime! This sweetie is barely out of puppyhood and has all that awesome young-dog energy for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures her new humans can dream up! She'd like to go to dog school, too, so she can show how super smart she is. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well but you know what she wants most of all? To love and be loved, to be safe under her own roof. She has so many adoring gazes and happy tail wags and kisses to give in return.

What do you say? Is McGruff the one you see trotting by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me:   McGruff is a sweet young lady who wears her heart on her chest! She is so so loving and an all around happy girl. She loves her humans and plays well with other dogs. Super sweet and is learning skills like sit, down and paw. She also does super well in cars! She sleeps through the night and isn’t very picky, she will be happy with whatever treats you give her! She is very smart, and already knows how to sit and listen to 'No'. We're working on 'paw' and 'down' now! She greets adults and children with the sweetest kisses, she really just wants to be loved and make sure everyone knows she also loves them!! She expresses all her joy with her tail wags.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
