My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For information please email louise@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $700 Location: Chesapeake, VA Things to consider when applying to adopt Willie: he is approximately 1 year he will require professional grooming he will require a basic manners/obedience class to finalize his adoption he is young and will need help learning potty manners he will need to learn to walk on leash he will need supervision we do not know if he likes children at this time he is high energy he needs a playmate, he LOVES other playful dogs and may not leave an older dog alone :-) Willie is small mixed breed maybe a yorkie/papillon mix. He is definitely a terrier mix so he will need monthly trips to a professional groomer to maintain his coat. The shelter estimates his age to be around 1 year. So far Willie seems like a happy go lucky little boy. He is young and full of puppy energy. He will require formal manner/obedience training for finalize his adoption. If you have the time and energy to train a puppy, please apply now. He is a love bug! He would love a fenced yard and a playmate. He LOVES other dogs! UPDATE: Willie has recovered from his neuter. He is a happy go lucky little yorkie mix. He will be groomed next Wednesday and then be ready for adoption. Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

After submission we check with the vet you referenced to obtain your pets medical history and the adopters compliance with recommendations

2.

Interview

Once you pass the vet. reference, we schedule an interview to find out more about you, the applicant, and the type of dog you want to adopt

3.

Home Check

If the phone interview is passed we then visit your home to see how one of our dogs reacts to the family, other pets and the environment.

4.

Approve Application

We have a committee to whom the applications are presented. They read over the entire packet and either approve or deny the app

5.

Meet the Pet

Once an adopter is approved they can call the foster parents and find out more about our dogs. If they match we set up a Meeting

More about this rescue

The founding members of our rescue are dog lovers. Especially, small dogs! When we saw the need to help so many small dogs of various breeds and mixes, we collaborated to form a non-breed-specific rescue to help as many small dogs as possible. Our mission is to help dogs who weigh up to 20 pounds.

Adoption is not first come first served. We match our dogs to potential owners to ensure the best outcomes for all involved! Our philosophy is: Rescue - Rehabilitate - Rejoice!

Our mission statement is as follows:
Compact Canine Rescue is a network of volunteers committed to rehabilitating small dogs and rehoming them with forever families on the east coast of the United States. We are passionate about promoting responsible pet parenting and educating the public on what makes dogs healthy and happy.
