My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Name: Samantha

*Age: approx 3-4 years old

*Current Weight: 41 lbs

*Adoption fee: $475

There is nothing more rewarding in life than watching a dog who has been wronged by the world learn to trust you. A dog who has been shown humans are scary and only cause pain, now running up to us tail wagging full of curiosity and an eagerness to connect. The world is finally looking bright for our Samantha girl and now it is time for her fly the nest into her very own home! Samantha is a 3-4 year old miniature Labrador mix weighing in at around 38 pounds. She has a beautiful grey-ish chocolatey coat that changes color depending on the lighting and deep soulful golden eyes. She is a wonder both inside and out!  We believe Samantha lived on the streets with her sister Dory before we rescued them. The street life is not very warm and fuzzy. Samantha had to do what she could to survive and clearly somewhere along the way humans were not kind to her. When Samantha first arrived, she was avoidant and trembling. She would cower and hide when we took the leash out or sat with her. It made us wonder what she had been through, poor girl.

We immediately started up a confidence and relationship building program with Samantha and now, many weeks later, you wouldn’t believe this is the same dog! It’s been an incredible experience watching Samantha slowly but surely began to let her guard down. First, allowing us to leash her up, share space and pets. Then learning to let her hair down through play with other dogs in the yards, often pausing in the play to come up to us for some attention! Samantha is quirky and fun, athletic and incredibly friendly with other dogs. She leaps and jumps with delight rain, shine or now! Samantha would do exceptionally well in a home with people (and other dogs and cats!) who understand her background and allow her time to acclimate to the glory of pet dog life. Could that be you?? Come meet our sweet Samantha today at our adoption center in Brewster, NY she is looking for a foster or adopter!!
