My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tabby-Oca is a 3-year-old snuggly cat, looking for his forever home!

This lovely stripey guy started his life with some trauma: he does have buckshot or bullets remaining in his body and previously had a cancerous ulcer on his hind leg. He has had a hind leg amputation to address the cancer; happily, there is no known evidence of cancer at this time. The buckshot remains in his body but has not affected his health. He recently had dental care to remove some broken teeth but doesn't have any restrictions on his diet and happily enjoys his dry food along with wet food treats.

Tabby is a low-energy cat at his foster home. His tripod status doesn't slow him down or prevent him from getting onto couches or chairs to greet people. He is an expert at finding a cozy spot to rest.

This lovely boy is happy to snuggle his people all day; he is always ready with a head bump to get pets and face rubs. Maintaining a healthy weight is important to his future health on 3 legs, and it’s easy to encourage him to play.

Tabby-Oca is currently fostered in a home with 1 adult, 2 children (ages 5, 12) and resident cats.

This sweet boy has been loving and friendly to the adults he has met and loves the attention of the cat-savvy children in his foster home. He would be happiest in a home where he can receive regular attention from his people, young or older. Although he lives with resident cats, he hasn't been a fan and Tabby would be happy as the only fur-child in his future forever home. He has no known experience with dogs.

Although he has had a busy medical history, Tabby doesn't have any specific medical needs outside of regularly scheduled vet care.

Tabby-Oca had a hard start as a community cat and lived outdoors before rescue. Although he has had some rough experiences it hasn't dimmed his friendly and loving personality. If you’d like to give this sweet, lovable pudding the plush indoor life he so richly deserves, please consider letting Tabby-Oca sweeten up your home and your family.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
