My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Galileo was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on August 9, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Galileo, your soon-to-be favorite star gazer and professional couch potato! Abandoned and feeling lost, Galileo has been a bit shy and shut down, trying to navigate a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar. But beneath that reserved exterior is a sweet boy, just waiting for the right person to help him feel at home. This friendly guy loves attention from his favorite people and is
a sucker for belly rubs! Galileo has been limping on his left back leg, and while he's much improved, vets suspect a CCL tear (similar to an ACL tear in humans) that may need some time to heal. He also has a couple of other medical conditions that we would love to talk to you about! If you're ready to show this stellar dog that he's not alone in the universe, Galileo is waiting for you to help him find his place among the stars! Be sure to bring a leash and collar for a safe journey home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
