My story

Zeus was originally surrendered to a shelter because his owners no longer had the time to care for him. We rescued him back in 2019 and he was adopted. Unfortunately, we've now learned Zeus is uneasy around toddlers and his adopters feel he'd be happier in a home without young children.

Zeus would like a home who will give him daily walks. At nine years old he's moderate energy level but still likes to play. He is good on a leash. He likes other dogs but a meet and greet with any dogs already in the home is recommended. He'd also be fine as an only dog if he got lots of human attention and exercise.

Indoors  Zeus enjoys lounging on the couch and occasionally stealing human yummies when you're not looking! He's not overly vocal and likes to roam his fenced back yard. He's housebroken and still loves his toys. Zeus can become protective of his home with strangers. This isn't a bad quality but something any adopter will need to manage by putting him in a different room or crate until he calms and then doing introductions to new people on a leash. Treats help to win him over!

Zeus would make a great companion dog to someone who is looking for a pup past the crazy Husky stage! He's a big boy and weighs 79lbs. Zeus is located in Maryland.

~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

Our application can be seen here: www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

We screen all applicants by calling personal references, landlords, vet references, conducting a phone interview and doing a home inspection. We do allow for a two week trial period after the adoption contract is signed. We back our dogs for life.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c) (3) nonprofit animal rescue organization. Our organization saves, rehabilitates, and rehomes Siberian Huskies (and other breeds of dogs) who are abandoned and are in kill shelters. We provide medical and behavioral services and rehome them to compatible families. We do this through volunteer efforts. Most of the dogs in need will come from the Southern States where the shelter kill rate is higher. We have a network of foster homes along the East Coast, while our adoption locations can be found in Maryland and New Jersey.
