My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

9/7/24 Poppy is a 6 mo old puppy who has lived all her life in an outdoor pen with her siblings, until now. Thankfully, an amazing foster stepped up and she is now living inside and learning the comforts of home! From her foster mom-
Poppy is a sweet timid girl who is spending a lot of time sleeping behind the couch as she adjusts to her foster home, so I haven’t had a chance to get too many pics of her. She is adjusting to being inside the majority of the time. Every time I have to take the dogs out she is getting a tiny bit better on the leash. She still isn’t too sure what to do on a leash and will stay pushed up against my leg or try to get between my legs while we are going out the door. It took her a little bit to settle down for the night last night but I think that it was just sleeping in a bed was new to her. If she sees something or someone new she will wag her tail and show her interest it needs to be encouraged to go to what it is she sees. She will definitely need patience from whoever adopts her and encouragement to come out of her shell. She may always be somewhat shy and timid though. She gets along great with my other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind the cats either.

She has been spayed and is utd on all vaccs, heartworm prevention, etc. Please consider giving her a home.

Located in New England.

This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.

More about this rescue

Adopt-A-Stray was founded in Jan. 2010, by Kelley Prichard. Since then, it has grown to include a few wonderful volunteers who work very hard to help ensure that our pets are place in loving, forever homes. We are based in Alexander, AR, but we list all of our available pets in the northeast. We work with several different transporters to get our babies to their new homes in the northeast once they are adopted. The transporter we use most often Pack Leaders (www.plrdogtransport.com). All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations before they leave. Every pet is seen by our vet prior to transport. If you see a pet listed that interests you, please be sure to read the description thoroughly and inquire to the email address listed. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
