Foster Home Feedback

** NO cats!

4/11/2024 Foster Feedback: Lark is a sweetie who loves cuddles and sleeping next to a human! She gets along well with our dog - she just needs some time to adjust. She will go into a kennel, but doesn't overly like it. Lark loves toys, but don't expect them to last for long because she loves to chew.  However, she has not chewed on human items (shoes, cords, etc).  Lark does bark at other dogs and people (she just wants to say hello). She is house trained and has not had any accidents, though we do have a doggie door for her to use at her convenience.

2/25/2024 Temporary Care Feedback: We kennel-napped Lark for a long weekend to give her a break from the shelter and man did we fall in love with this special girl! She rides great in the car, walks great on a leash after some initial excitement, and is great with humans both male and female. She loves toys, plays hard and naps hard, loves her mealtime and is very polite around human food, and so desperately just wants a couch to lay on and a lap to cuddle. She never once tried to get into anything that she shouldn’t. She’s seriously so easy and chill after she settles in.
We did proper slower introductions with her to our male dog and after a good walk through the neighborhood she wanted to be besties with him. The weekend was spent with her trying to play with him and him just wanting to cuddle with her. She also got a much needed bath while at our house and although she was pretty scared to get in the tub she was an absolute angel while getting cleaned up. Lark slept beautifully through the night in her kennel but we don’t know how she does in her kennel when the humans leave the house. We wanted to spend as much time as possible with her so we never left her side.
Lark is one of those special dogs that just pulls on your heartstrings. She is so beautiful and sweet, is such a fun pocket size (only 38 pounds!), and just deserves to be the apple of someone’s eye for the rest of her life. Please consider adding this precious girl to your family, you won’t regret it!

9/19/2022 Volunteer Feedback: This sweet, small girl will come at you tail-wagging and asking for some love! Lark’s adorable ears accentuate her beautiful face. Her loving personality makes her a gentle soul. She enjoys scratches on her belly and behind her ears. She walks very nicely on leash with no pulling and she enjoys the scenic route (especially if it has lots of sniff spots)! She walks at a slow time pace and takes in the views and scents around her. This smart girl knows her commands and performs them eagerly. Just watch out—she is just as excited to get a treat and may tug on a finger! Lark, despite her small size, would be enough to fill anyone’s heart!

9/11/2022 Volunteer Feedback: Miss Lark is a wonderful dog! She's small but fierce...in a great way! Lark came into the rescue with some tummy issues but they've since cleared up. Her spark comes thru more and more as she's getting comfortable and feeling better. There have been a few volunteers that have taken her out kennel breaks and she's done great on her adventures. Lark is dog friendly but would do best in a home with a laid-back dog buddy. Cats are a no-go for Miss Lark, unfortunately.

Walks with her are a breeze. She likes to check in with you now and again, just to make sure you're keeping up with her. If she does get too excited, she's easily redirected. My favorite feature of Lark is her ears. I mean, just look at them! She's got em and knows how to flaunt them. Give this girl a chance and there's no doubt that you'll fall for her.

9/6/2022 Temporary Care Feedback: Lark does well in her kennel. She had one accident right away each time I had her, but then settles in with no accidents. She didn't really have a cue that she needed to go outside, but she had no accidents when I let her out every couple of hours. She walks well. She knows "sit" and "come". She mainly napped on my couch both times I had her. Short walks and fetch were enough to wear her out, so pretty low activity. She stuck pretty close to me and had to be near me most of the time. She likes snacks and doesn't seem food possessive. She wanted to play with my old dog, so I had to redirect her because my blind little dog is not one that plays. She would really love to be in a house. She was really happy while she was here.

Additional adoption info

There is a pre-adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adopting an animal. There is an adoption donation/fee applied to all dogs. This fee ranges from $100-150. These fees help cover the veterinary care we have provided for the animals while they wait for homes. The fee also helps pay for the food and other general care we provide for the dogs. You must be 21 yrs or older to adopt a dog and can not live in a an area where there are dog breed bans. We do adopt to homes outside on the area, but there are special requirements for out of state adopters.

Go meet their pets

We regularly have "Meet the Dogs!" events at the West Fargo PetSmart store. These events will give you the opportunity to meet some of the dogs we have available for adoption and to visit with our volunteers. See our website for schedule dates/times.
