My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello,
My family: Rosebud (F, momma), Elmer (M, daddy), Zinnia (F), Roisin (F, Irish for Rose), and Magnolia (F).

We were found on a country road with few houses and fewer cars passing by. To our blessing, a lady in a pickup truck came by shortly after we were dumped. It was also in our favor she knew who we were and that our owner had died. Our savior was a foster mom for this dog rescue. We are healthy, happy, and ready for our very own homes.

We are shy at first with strangers, but that doesn't last long. We are social babies. Our foster mom has many other dogs/ puppies, cats/ kittens, and horses. We love the water. There is a little swimming pool and a creek.

Rosebud (F) would like to go for walks or hiking.

Elmer (M) Is special needs. When he exited the yard one day, he returned the next day. Something had attacked him. His left leg had repairs done outside and inside of his rear leg. No residual problems. He also had one toe on his left foot amputated.

Zinnia (F), Roisin (F), and Magnolia (F) are the silliest, happiest girls. They love putting their face in the water and blowing bubbles—just clowns.

We are all ready to be adopted. Please request an application today, alittlelonger2home@gmail.com, to begin our journey home to you. I am prepared for an adventure! I want to see the beach, lake, apple orchards, hiking trails...

We are very careful with our adoptions for these orphans are in our homes. They are family to us. If it does not feel right, there is probably a reason. The adoption is cancelled.

More about this rescue

My name is Carla Carlton. We (my husband and I) are retired militay. He served in the Air Force for 25 years. We have always done comunity service. So, when we got ready to retire, we found a place we wanted to live and bought a home. Well, the town we lived in has/had a high kill shelter. This broke our hearts.
Around this same time, I met a lady who fostered for Friends of Homeless Animals, RI. One day I got a call from FOHA there was a poodle in our shelter and he was on the short list. I went and pulled him. Roie (FOHA), helped set me up to foster and list our orphans to adopt with families who really wanted them. I am not sure how long ago it was, 16-18 years, I think. The rest is history. Through them and Mountain Pet Rescue, CO (and a few others in CO, UT, IA, IL, OR, CA, MS...), we have placed over 2500 dogs/ puppies and cats.
