My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moses is an incredibly sweet, goofy boy who will steal your heart. He will melt in your arms and love you up. Moses is a smart doggo who hasn't had any accidents in the house, was quick to learn 'sit' and we are working on 'come'. He's not food motivated which means a little creativity when it comes to training but he's figuring it out (hot dogs are helping!)!

Moses is an active pup who is doing well on a leash (we walk once a day), is great with fetch and loves playing with his foster sister. When he is ready to wind down, he can entertain himself with a chew toy or nibs on a stuff animal but always wants to be in close vicinity.

Moses is also shy and is very cautious of new things but curious as well. Patience is key as he can get spooked easily and takes a little while to move on. He's been getting free reign of the house and does really well but is mostly a shadow, following his foster mom everywhere.

Moses would do really well in a calm, quieter environment where he can relax and grow into a confident dog. He would do great with another dog, especially one that wants to play! He is also friendly but very aware of cats and would do fine in a house with them if they allowed his curiosity. This little pup needs a home filled with love, nurture and definitely toys :)

Moses is estimated to be 6 months old and 33 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Come on out and meet all of our great adoptable pups!! On weekends we have meetings at random locations. See our events page on our website or social media.

More about this rescue

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.

This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
