Orchid was found as a stray in Detroit and never reclaimed. Orchid had a rough start in life; she was extremely emaciated when rescued, with severely matted fur that required shaving. Since entering our rescue, she has gained 7 lbs, her fur is starting to grow back beautifully and she is happy and well!
Despite her neglected past, Orchid is a friendly and energetic girl who thrives on attention. She is affectionate and enjoys bonding with her humans. Orchid has a joyful spirit and is beginning to explore her playful side by playing with toys!
**Training & Behavior**
- House Manners: Orchid has a good understanding of house manners. She will communicate her need to go outside and is already going to the door.
- Leash Training: She has started leash training but will benefit from further practice. She is eager to please and looks for praise, however keep in mind that Orchid isn’t a good fit for a tether environment.
- Compatibility with Other Pets: Orchid is good with other dogs that respect her space and gets along well with calm cats. She can be overwhelmed by high-energy puppies.
- Children: Orchid would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact with her gently.
- Crate Training & Travel: Orchid is crate trained and feels comfortable in her crate. She also enjoys car rides, making her a great travel companion!
