Kai is a very affectionate young male Dutch Shepherd with a great disposition! Very friendly, even with strangers, Kai adores receiving pets and caresses and just hanging out.
Kai was rescued as a stray off the streets with painful burns on the pads of his feet from running around on hot asphalt. His feet have healed, but unfortunately those burns were not the only medical condition he has suffered from. Kai has heartworms, and is currently undergoing treatment and home care, which involves lots of crate time and short walks. Such restrictions are tough on active dogs! But Kai seems to be taking it all in stride. He is patient and doing well so far. NOTE; It is anticipated that Kai will be undergoing heartworm treatment until the end of November 2024.
Kai does get nervous when meeting new dogs - he will growl a little in a protective warning. But it doesn't take long for him to get neutral to other dogs. Kai loves to ride in the car and take his short walks. He enjoys balls, toys and kongs and knows some basic obedience, although he does pull mildly on a leash. But he is a smart guy, and we believe he will learn quickly. We are still learning about Kai, as he has only been with MAD since the end of August, so we will be updating his profile as we learn more.
All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and one-year subscription.
