My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Courtesy Post*

Champ is being posted with courtesy by DogWorks Ohio to ensure he is gets an appropriate home. All applications will be forwarded appropriately to the person requesting our assistance.

Meet Champ, a 3 year old, 65 pound, mixed breed guy who has outgrown his family's ability to provide him a home in which he can thrive. Champ would thrive in a home with adults that can give him all the love and attention he needs.

Champ loves hitting doggie day care to play with other dog friends, but with human strangers he doesn't do well and needs slow and supervised introductions. Champ has done well with the kids in his home but when they have friends over he gets upset and guarded.

His current person says this on his overall behavior: Champ is loving, loyal, a great listener and playful. He enjoys all attention. He is smart and calm- unless he is amped up to see his friends at doggie daycare.

Champ is use to a 6ft fenced yard, is crate and potty trained. He does well with the older children in his home (teens) and has great times with other dogs. Cats have not been introduced. Champ knows many basic and advanced commands, and walks well on a leash.

If you believe your home is the perfect spot for this big guy to spend his days getting all the cuddles and love, complete the required ADOPTION APPLICATION and we will forward it on accordingly. A $100.00 rehoming fee is being asked to ensure he is getting a safe home.

Additional adoption info

Dogworks strives to place dogs into permanent homes based on the dogs' personalities and yours. To adopt a dog, we require a completed application, approved vetting, signed adoption contract, and home visit.

Adoption applications are available on our website (www.dogworksohio.com) and at all Meet & Greets. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact your references and consider suitability. You will be contacted by phone or email, typically within 4 business days, to discuss arrangements for adoption contract and home visit.

Adoption fees are variable (typically $125-$250) and are listed with the description of each dog. Adoption fee will be refunded if you decide that the dog is not compatible with your family within 2 weeks.

Adopted dogs must be returned to Dogworks in the event that they can no longer remain a member of your household for any reason.

All dogs have been updated on vaccines and tested for heartworm prior to adoption. Adult dogs and puppies older than 14 weeks are spayed/neutered. Adopters of younger puppies are required to sign an agreement to complete spay/neuter by 6 months of age. We will assist with spay/neuter costs. Adopters will receive a copy of medical records.

More about this rescue

Dogworks is an all-volunteer, nonprofit group based in Toledo, OH, whose purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, neglected, and unwanted dogs. Our focus has been on sporting dogs, both purebreds and mixed breeds. Most dogs are rescued from euthanizing shelters, although some come to us from relinquishing owners or other means. All dogs are fostered in volunteer homes until adoption. We do not have a shelter or kennel facility.
