My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

SMALL DOG ALERT!!! Introducing Barbara or "Barbie". She's a whole lot of cute in a little package! Barbara is a feist mix. She weighs in at only 28 pounds. Not only is she small, she's also a housetrained adult! Barbara is approximately 3 years old. She is a lover of all and would do well with dogs, cats, and children. Her foster mom says: "Barbie is a "velcro" dog that loves being with you or on your lap. She's incredibly sweet and loving. She is a smart gal and already knows how to fetch! She's content just being with you and playing with her toys, but also enjoys getting outside for some sunshine from time to time." Barbara would be the PERFECT dog for someone with a smaller home or breed/size restrictions, or a family that is not very active, or even someone looking to add a small, playful adult dog to their existing pack. To learn more about Barbara, submit an application online at ahhumanesociety.org or email Halee at halee@ahhumanesociety.org!

More about this rescue

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, and no monies from national humane organizations or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations. The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. We value every animal equally and consider all to be priceless
Please visit our website, www.ahumanesociety.org for more information.
