This helps ShepHeroes with pet care costs.
Many thanks to Pet Food Express Citrus Heights for hosting us on September 28th, your hospitality was lovely and our pups loved all your loves. Rubie has made friends with the staff and was so nicely behaved with her shepherd friends and all the dogs who stopped by for the VIP Pet Care pop up clinic taken place at the same time.
Meet Rubie, a stunning 5-month-old black and rust-colored Doberman Pinscher ready to steal your heart! Rubie has already mastered "sit," "down," "stay," "wait', and "crate training," sleeping in her crate overnight and for naps. She's now completely potty training. She's also learned to use the doggie door. Currently being fostered with two resident dogs and two resident cats, Rubie's thriving with her sweet, gentle nature. Rubie spent a few days with our Maverik, who has since been adopted.
Though we're a German Shepherd Rescue, we couldn't pass up the chance to help Rubie find her perfect forever home. One of our amazing fosters took Rubie in when a neighbor could no longer care for Rubie, and now Rubie's looking for a family to call her own. If you're a Doberman lover or know someone who is, Rubie could be the one you've been waiting for!
Rubie is a lovely companion. She has begun walking nicely on a leash and will start heading out to new adventures in the car this week to help her with environmental socialization. Likely treated with a heavy hand and shouted at in her prior life, Rubie is learning not to be afraid of loud voices at home and loud cars outside. On the other hand, she's unfazed by the vacuum cleaner, a common sight in multiple dog households.
Rubie is a playful pup who adores her toys; over the last couple of weeks, her foster mom has been picking her baby teeth out of the toys. With good nutrition, Rubie's growing in her adult teeth. She's also learning to enjoy kiddie pools on hot days, a testament to her adaptability. Her diet includes good kibble and a variety of healthy additives like eggs, carrots, and other veggies, showing her love for good food. Since arriving in her foster home, Rubie has gained weight and her coat has turned from dull to glossy in color and texture. She's growing so nicely.
Rubie is a soft puppy who loves snuggles and hanging out with her people and dog buds. She loves to stretch her legs in the yard with a beautiful gait, running like a gazelle when she has zoomies. While she respects the mainly indoor cat and gives her a wide berth, she gets tempted to chase the indoor/outdoor kitty who likes to run, but a firm "no" brings her to a complete stop, as she loves to please her people.
We would love your help connecting with Doberman lovers! As always, puppies require patience, training, environmental exposure, and structure to grow into neutral adult dogs. Just like shepherds, Dobermans are smart, fun, and loving for owners with experience raising puppies or working dogs of a similar breed.
