This helps Bay Area German Shepherd Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Hi! I'm Zuko, a young purebred male German Shepherd with a playful side and a love for being around people. I might be a little shy meeting other dogs at first, but don't worry—I’m not here to start any fights! Slow introductions are best for me, though I walk nicely on a leash even with other dogs around. For now, I'd do best as the only dog, unless my new family knows how to introduce me to other dogs slowly. I'm just a nice pup who had a rough start, but I’m ready for the next chapter!
I really enjoy playing fetch and I’ll always bring the ball back to you. I don’t mind if you take it from my mouth either. I’m not super high-energy, but I do love to tug on toys too. I ride well in the car, and while I might bark at other dogs sometimes, I’m working on getting better at that.
I am very friendly and allow all over handling and grooming just fine. I still have a bit of puppy brain and can sometimes get overstimulated, so even though I like kids, aged 8 and older would be best for me for now.
Something you should know about me is that when I saw a cat for the first time, I wasn’t too impressed—I might even get along with cats if introduced properly. I know how to sit and lie down, and I’m super motivated by treats.
I’m looking for a family that understands German Shepherds or similar breeds, so they can help me continue to learn and grow. I still need a bit of training, but I’m excited to keep learning! Group training would be great for me! I'll be waiting in Santa Rosa.
You like this dog...now what?
Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic
Our adoption team will spring into action to help you adopt this dog. If you have already completed the application and are approved, please phone or text your adoption counselor and we will set up a meeting. Not sure, foster first and adopt later!
BAGSR is always in need of fosters. There is an overwhelming number of dogs who need our help and the more fosters we have, the more dogs we can save. BAGSR covers expenses, including food. Fosters provide the love and a soft place to crash.
