My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rebel is a sweet and loyal 4-year-old hound mix who loves spending time with his favorite people and will greet you with a wagging tail every time. He enjoys long walks, cuddling, and playing with toys and dog friends. While Rebel is fully house-trained and gets along well with other dogs once he’s comfortable, he does have a couple of quirks that need understanding.

Rebel can be a bit territorial, especially around new people or in unfamiliar spaces. He’s a bit shy when meeting new faces and may need some time to warm up to them. He’s looking for a temporary foster who can help him with proper introductions and guide him to greet new people in a calm and positive way. A peaceful and patient environment would work best for him, and he thrives when his boundaries are respected.

If you're experienced with dogs who need a little extra patience and understanding, Rebel would be so grateful for your help in making this holiday season special! He’s a loving companion who just needs someone to help him feel safe and secure.

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
