My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Izzy is a quiet and gentle senior dog. She is affectionate and is a true couch dog! Izzy came to the shelter with her daughter Emi as their owners could no longer care for them. Izzy is a friendly girl but is a dog that is best suited for a home with other senior dogs and older children as she not up to play or rough house due to her age and having poor mobility. Izzy would need to meet with any other dogs or kids she would be living with to make sure it is a good fit. She would also need a family willing to work on house training with her. Izzy would love to cuddle up on the couch with her people and soak up all the love and affection she can get. She is a very sweet girl who is just looking for a cozy retirement home where she can live out her golden years being pampered and adored. If you're looking for a quiet, gentle companion, Izzy is the girl for you!

More about this shelter

We make every effort to find homes for every animal in our care. When our shelter is over-crowded, we rely on a network of "foster families" to take care of our pets. All the while, we have increased our efforts to "get the word out" about our pets (e.g. this website, pictures, newspaper publicity, etc.) Our efforts pay off.

The Staff and Board of Directors at the Humane Society love pets, and our actions bear out that simple fact. Our animal guests get the very best care while they are with us.

Please help! We need volunteers to help us exercise the dogs. We try to walk the dogs each day to provide them with the exercise and attention they so desperately need. You can volunteer as little or as much as you like. If you would be interested in helping us care for our animal guests, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121.
