Meet Leica also known as Ash!

Ash is a sweet and loving pup who makes a fantastic family dog. She adores kids, cuddling on the couch, and getting all the rubs she can. This car-ride enthusiast loves to stick her head out the window and enjoy the breeze on every adventure!

Ash is crate trained and housebroken, and she's a quick learner, especially when treats are involved-she's very food motivated! She knows commands like *sit* (with a hand gesture), *stop*, *no*, and *come on*, making her a joy to train.

While Ash loves people, she can be a little shy at first. She's also a bit cautious but curious around other dogs. Her ideal day involves spending time indoors (her favorite place to be!), lounging with her family, and carrying around socks. Yes, socks! Ash has a funny habit of picking them up and proudly carrying them around, but don't worry-she doesn't eat them!

One quirk to know: Ash is scared of the vacuum and will dash to another room when it's turned on.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
