How this pet arrived:
Alfie was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on August 25, 2024.
Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Alfie, the cutest little bundle of curiosity and fluff! This inquisitive bun loves exploring his surroundings and would probably love having a bunny buddy to share his adventures with-just make sure you do your bunny bonding research first! Alfie came to us with some battle scars (puncture wounds) but is healing up like a champ. He also had a bit of a toothy situation (malocclusion, for those who speak bunny dentist), but his teeth were trimmed on 8/26/24 and he is back to chewing comfortably! Rabbits, like Alfie, are intelligent and complex animals who do well in families with humans who understand that they are prey animals, and do not enjoy being picked up or held. The best way to bond with them is to spend time with them on the floor, and shower them with plenty of greens and Timothy hay! Alfie is a domestic rabbit and they should be kept indoors. The nice thing about having indoor rabbits is that they can come out of their cage for bunny playtime, in a rabbit proof area of the home. It's during this supervised playtime that rabbits often exhibit some of their most fun and interesting behaviors! Alfie will need a large enclosure with free roaming time (bigger is always better). Alfie would love a family who will interact with them daily to keep them healthy and social! When rabbits get the space and enrichment they need, they often form deep bonds with their humans! Don't forget to bring a secure carrier for a safe ride home!
Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV2) is a highly contagious disease affecting rabbits. Due to its presence in San Diego County, all rabbits will receive a mandatory RHDV2 vaccine before adoption. Guests will be charged $14 for this vaccine upon adoption.
