Luke: brown tabby, short hair, neutered male, born 5/4/24, #19288 Leia: black/white tuxedo, short hair, spayed female, born 5/4/24, #19289 Rey: solid black, short hair, spayed female, born 5/4/24, #19290
Cats: love friends Dogs: ok in different ways, see below Children: cat-savvy older ones
A Good Samaritan in Whittier was feeding a people-wary cat when he saw that she was pregnant and wanted to help her further; mom was wise enough to realize it was a good thing to go inside where her newborn kittens could be safe. Her benefactor cared for them all and socialized the kittens until they were weaned when they transferred to The Rescue House. Their mama was spayed and released to continue to be cared for at her preferred distance.
All these kitties are well-socialized, eager to interact, and very playful! ---Luke is the leader of the litter – confident and self-secure. He’s the most outgoing and adventurous one, being the first to come running and greet you without hesitation. Luke’s very affectionate when he winds down. He likes to cuddle and snuggle under the covers. ---Leia is more cautious and needs a little patience giving her time to adjust to new situations. Once she’s comfortable, she shows off her slightly sassy attitude: she enjoys snuggles and petting, but she’s a kitten who likes to be in charge of the when and how long. Leia likes to jump and run all around engaging with other kitties and/or people though can be easily startled if there’s an unexpected noise or interruption; she’ll come back out again once it’s clear, though! ---Rey is fairly mellow and easygoing. She’s active like her siblings but is usually the first to settle, cuddle, and purr. There are times when she prefers to sit on the sidelines perched in a prime observation spot to make sure she knows what’s going on and doesn’t miss anything rather than participate in the action.
All three get along well with other cats of all ages after a short intro period. They also have been comfortable being around a large respectful dog – Luke has no fear interacting, whereas Leia prefers to just share space and Rey is kind of in between. They have not met any children, though we recommend cat-savvy older ones who can respect Leia’s adjustment wishes and understand Luke’s overstimulated play-bites (he’s working on learning his manners).
