More about this shelter

We are a "No-Kill not-for-profit shelter that offers nutrition, excellent veterinary care, and socialization activites for dogs and cats that are homeless for various reasons. Many of these animals are abandoned or neglected; they need the attention of our loving and caring staff and volunteers until they can be placed in a wonderful adoptive home. CASI is not affiliated with any city, county, or state government program. We rely completely on financial donations; grants; and CFC donations. Our volunteer program is a terrific opportunity to interact with our animals or utilize special skills. Volunteers are the lifeblood of CASI; working at the shelter, socializing kittens, puppies, dogs and cats; exercising the dogs, grooming the cats; answering our ever ringing telephone; or talking with visitors. Or volunteering at off-site adoption events, helping to set up the venue, walking the animals, keeping them entertained while potential adopters visit with the animals, etc. We couldn't do without them. Unlike our shelter capacity - we always have room for more volunteers. We also need volunteers with skills such as bookkeeping, marketing, photography, grant writing, or fundraising. Our CASI Board of Directors is hands-on - we are committed to finding loving homes for all of the animals in our care. Our professional dog trainer, who also serves on our Board of Directors, works with animals, staff and volunteers, teaching them to identify signs of a fearful or angry dog, reading the animal's body language and teaching basic obedience skills. CASI partners with local schools, churches, and businesses to promote responsible pet ownership; spay and neuter programs; pet care and pet health. We are currently working on several new programs, which will launch after the first of the year; including an elder foster program. These programs will be announced on our web page at www.MyNewBestFriend.org and Facebook at www.facebook.com/CASIpets. Be sure and check them out!
Please come by and visit - we have awesome pets for adoption or fostering.
